The Sierra Leone Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Bureau (SL-AAIIB), is an Agency under the Ministry of Transport and Aviation. The Bureau is charged with the responsibility of investigating all civil aircraft accident and serious incident arising out of, or in the course of operating aircraft occurring either in Sierra Leone, over Sierra Leone’s airspace or occurring to Sierra Leone registered aircraft elsewhere.

The primary objective of SL-AAIIB is to improve aviation safety as well as determining the circumstances and causes of air accidents and serious incidents, and providing safety recommendations intended to prevent recurrence of such or similar accidents without apportioning blame or liability.

The Commissioner

Olubumi Roderick Wellington

Olubumi Roderick Wellington has over 10 years of working experience in the Aviation Industry, having served both Industrial and Regulatory fields. Mr. Wellington possesses skills and knowledge essential for managing key areas of Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority, particularly in Aircraft Airworthiness and Aircraft Incident Investigations. He is a certified aircraft inspector with the relevant competencies in safety oversight and aviation management. Mr. Wellington is adept at identifying problems and addressing them before they escalate. He also brings to the Sierra Leone Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation Bureau both operational and regulatory experience from Ethiopian Airline and Ghana Civil Aviation Authority respectively.
